“Hi, it’s Steve. Today, we’d like to show you how to replace
and also how to maintain the finish on the burner caps of your gas range. It’s a really easy repair, let me show you
how we do it. Now, before we replace the burner caps, the
first thing we want to do is make sure that the surface is cool to touch. Just allow the range to cool off, make sure
that the grates are cool to the touch then remove the appropriate grate and then we can
change out that burner cap. Now to maintain the surface of that burner
cap, we suggest that you wash it only in a mild detergent and water and use a plastic-type
scrub pad to remove any built-up dirt. Clean them as soon as they become soiled and
dry them completely. Never put them in the dishwasher and never
use an abrasive cleanser. If you clean them regularly, they will last
you for many years. Now that the grate is cool to touch, simply
lift that off. We’ll set it aside, remove the old burner
cap and discard it. Position the new one on the center of that
burner, make sure it’s centered properly and carefully put that grate back into position. Now that you’ve replaced the burner cap, we
put our grates back in place. Just remember that the next time you have
a spill on that burner cap to clean it up as soon as possible and they’ll last for a
long time.”
